Inviting Musical Guests!

27 Sep

We invite you and your young musicians to join us this fall

  • Parents and children are invited to participate in music making activities as part of a demonstration for Children’s Musical Development (A&HM 5022).
  • The course is designed to introduce music education students to how children are musical, with whom they are musical, and what types of sounds and objects invite musical behaviors – before we attempt to design instruction for them.
  • Demonstrations are very informal – just come and be yourself! We will have musical instruments and recorded music for children to explore, and are particularly interested in any favorite music activities you do at home.
  • The 30-45-minute demonstration is defined by spontaneous activity – it is not a highly structured class. It starts at the beginning of class at 5:10pm and ends at 6:00pm. The class meets in 519 Horace Mann. Plan on arriving a few minutes early to become acclimated to the setting.
  • The demonstrations are age-grouped. We can accommodate up to 6 families for each age group.

Infants (Pre-walking) – Wednesday, October 2
Toddlers (1-2 years old) – Wednesday, October 16
3-5 years old – Wednesday, October 30

  • If you are interested in participating, email Adriana Diaz-Donoso, faculty assistant for this class, at
