Summer A: 5/21-6/24 MW 1:20-4:30pm
Summer B: 7/7-8/5  MW 1:15-4:05pm
This course will introduce students to the project of understanding and designing inclusive classrooms. Even as it focuses on expanding opportunities for students with disabilities, it simultaneously seeks to build the tool-kit of teachers to meet the needs of students with varying kinds and degrees of educational needs in the general education classroom. The course will interrogate traditional notions of ability/disability as it explores structures that maximize opportunities for participation for a diverse student body. The readings will seek to equip students with the practical tools for planning inclusive classrooms, including specific pedagogical models, familiarity with technology and commitment to productive social relationships.
